Experiencing a Change…

“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change” ~ Charles Darwin

Change is that inevitable part of our lives that has the power to shake us from our very core. Sometimes it is the situations we are in and sometimes it is the people we love and us. It is not easy to go through and not everybody can accept it. So what does it feel like experiencing this…

Be it a tiny change in a long thought out plan,

Or a life altering event that comes up and our attention it demands,

Change is something so confusing that it makes us wonder,

Perceived as beautiful yet threatening often making one quiver.

Creating feelings of restlessness in the hearts,

As one feels that it might bring him together or break him apart.

Imagined fear of what may come,

Preventing us to see what we may become.

Leading to soul-searching, identity questioning,

Dreading a probable change in everyone and everything.

Questioning the choices that it brings with itself,

Wondering if it will all be worth it.

The onset of change bringing with it an explosion of feelings,

Making one think of himself and his abilities.

The excitement of the new ebbing its way as we go deeper,

The tingling sensation in our hearts making us feel weaker.

Like a curious child prying from behind the curtains,

We seek to get a hint or a simple illumination.

Of what is it that will come next,

Will it make everything worse or better in context.

It creates apprehensions,

Begging for us to shed our so called pretensions.

Encouraging us to reach out to it,

To embrace the oncoming change from within.

For change is inevitable,

It is a part of the life we live.

An unexpected hidden blessing,

If one does not accept it then he must face defeat.

So no matter how challenging it may seem,

How much ever dreadful it may feel,

Accepting and living the change is the key,

To a happy life and with it success and glory.

Tangled Knots…

“Mostly it is loss which teaches us about the worth of things” ~ Arthur Schopenhauer. Understanding the mystery behind attachment and detachment…

Attachment is often followed by detachment…creating a knotted mess which despite being tugged from all ends only tightens these uncomfortable knots even more.

Like the strong connection between the sun and the moon,

The calming effect on a baby as the mother croons.

The sound of the thunder after the lightening strikes,

Relief that spreads as one quenches his thirst and slowly revives.

There are mysterious connections like these that are hard to understand,

They are close to the heart and nothing can break their trance.

Their elements go hand in hand,

Creating a sense of attachment as strong as a silk strand.

They calm us give us a sense of security,

Their presence gives us strength and hope to face adversities.

Then what is it that causes a reversal to such feelings,

From complete attachment we reach a state of emotionless stirrings.

Is it the thought of hurting the one we love that draws us away,

Or is it the imaginary pain of supposed seperation which makes us push them away.

It feels like taking away a prized possession,

Making someone feel pain when all they offered to us was love and compassion.

Distance and detachment creates this void,

That no one addresses but sadly avoids.

Certain configurations are hard to figure out,

The more we dwell on them the more we seem to drown.

But everything seems to move in a cycle,

From young to old and life to death,

Everything completes its circle.

So does this mean that this too shall follow the same flow,

With the loved ones who we lost and let go.

Will one day we forget all that which led us apart,

Will one day we be the same as we were in the past…

The Dilemma…

Sometimes the heart and the mind defy each other …in such conditions who should one listen to…

Should one follow what the heart says or let the brain contemplate….

Like an impulsive child,

Demanding the one thing that he has been denied.

The constant buzzing of the bees trying to reach a flower,

That seems hidden from their view but still has an attractive power.

The charming glow of the pearly moon,

That attracts many but does not last till noon.

The heart wishes silently,

There is a longing, a soulful yearning,

Which at times results in nothing.

But deep inside it all resides…

The wishes, the dreams that cannot be defied.

The mind on the other hand,

Is like that determined ant,

Which on losing his trail still marches on with faith.

Like that ruthless cold-hearted lion,

Sneaking and conniving to catch its prey,

Knowing that no matter how much cruel it maybe is necessary to keep hunger at bay.

The mind reasons it all,

Providing explanations and logical representations.

Putting on a facade and calling it factual realism.

The  scales tip from one end to the other,

Creating misleading delusions of grandeur.

Walking on a thin line of seperation,

Swinging between the two choices of opinions.

It seems like a hard choice to make,

Should one – follow the heart’s way or let the mind win the game.
